We are delighted to invite you to attend our next focused meeting on Cell Signalling. This two-day scientific meeting is the seventh in a highly successful series: it will give 200 participants the opportunity to hear leading experts in cell signalling from across the world present their research. For the first time, the meeting will include the JR Vane Medal plenary lecture. The meeting provides invaluable opportunities for participants to network with pharmacologists from the UK and overseas.

Aim:
To provide a forum, led by internationally-leading researchers, to discuss the latest findings and ideas in cell signalling research with an emphasis on G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) pharmacology and therapeutics.

Objectives:

To discuss the latest advances in our structural understanding of GPCRs, including quaternary interactions
To link structure to function with respect to key GPCR features (e.g. orthosteric and allosteric ligand-receptor interactions, structural basis of GPCR coupling to G proteins, GRKs, arrestins)
To review and contrast recent advances in our understanding of structure-function relationships in families A, B and C GPCRs
To highlight progress in our understanding of receptor-arrestin interactions
To explore the therapeutic potential of ligand ‘bias’ in drug discovery
To appreciate the latest findings linking pharmacological manipulation of specific GPCR subtypes as novel therapeutic approaches to disease

Launch of new COMPARE centre
18 April, 4.00–6.30pm

You are also invited to attend a plenary lecture the following day by Nobel Laureate Professor Brian Kobilka at the official launch of the new Centre of Membrane Proteins and Receptors (COMPARE).

The lecture will take place from 4.00–6.30pm on 18 April at the University of Nottingham Medical School and will be followed by a drinks reception. To register for the lecture please click here.

Bursaries

Member bursaries
Bursaries are available to eligible members who are attending and presenting their work at the meeting. Eligible members are generally expected to have been a member of the Society for at least one year and must have submitted an abstract and be presenting in the poster and/or oral sessions at the meeting.

The maximum amount for individual bursaries and will usually be restricted to up to 75% of the aggregate cost of accommodation and travel for students and 50% for non-students. The maximum award is £750. Food and beverage costs and travel incidentals will not be reimbursed. Costs will be based on the Society’s assessment of the most economical mode of travel and a reasonable standard of accommodation.

By bus
There are a number of bus services running from Nottingham to University Park Campus. Please see the bus services page for further information.

By tram
If you are coming to University Park Campus from Nottingham Train Station, you can now hop on a tram which is accessible by the walkway leading from the station. Tickets must be purchased before boarding. The Toton line takes you directly to the University and visitors should disembark at the University of Nottingham stop. More information is available here.

By train
The nearest train stations are located in Nottingham City Centre or Beeston. Taxis and buses are available at both stations.

From East Midlands Airport
From East Midlands Airport you can take the Trent Barton Indigo service directly to the campus or the Skylink bus to Nottingham. Buses leave from outside the Airport Arrivals hall. See bus services for further information.

You can also walk to the taxi rank on the terminal forecourt and take a direct taxi to the University. The cost of a single/one way journey is approximately £20.

From M1 motorway
Leave the M1 motorway at Junction 25 to join the A52 to Nottingham. Follow the A52 for approximately 4 miles, at the Toby Carvery roundabout turn right onto the A6464, turn left at the next roundabout to enter the University's West Entrance.

From campus to campus
The University provides a free Hopper Bus service which runs from University Park Campus to Jubilee Campus, Sutton Bonington Campus, King's Meadow Campus and Royal Derby Hospital Centre.
