Pharmacology 2018 is the British Pharmacological Society's flagship annual meeting which attracts over 1,200 scientists each year from across the world. 

The Society is welcoming session proposals until Friday 16 February 2018. For further details please visit the 'Programme' tab.

Online registration will open in June 2018. To register your interest for this meeting and to be notified when registration has been opened, please email meetings@bps.ac.uk.

The British Pharmacological Society's Meetings Committee is seeking proposals for symposia and workshops at Pharmacology 2018.

Please upload your proposals including all the information requested below to the Society's proposals website by Friday 16 February 2018.

Symposia

The Society’s standard symposia format includes a five-minute welcome by the chairs, followed by four 20-minute presentations by invited speakers, a 15-minute presentation delivered by a young pharmacologist*, and concludes with a five-minute question and answer session for all speakers. In 2018, the Society will not source the young pharmacologist presentation for the symposia, therefore please ensure you account for this presenter in your application. Please ensure your speaker line-up is inclusive and diverse.

  • Title of your symposium
  • Four invited speakers, one young pharmacologist and two alternate speakers
  • Outline programme including likely presentation titles
  • Potential audience profile
  • Justification as to why this symposium is important and timely
  • Objective of the symposium
  • Estimate of any likely output for our journals: BJP/BJCP/PR&P
  • Potential sources of sponsorship - We encourage all symposia organisers to raise sponsorship to cover speaker travel and accommodation expenses. The Society's office will be happy to assist with this

*Young pharmacologists should not be more than five years post PhD or medical qualification.

  • Format: Please provide information on the number of speakers and facilitators, their roles, short talks by panellists, anticipated numbers of attendees and elements of interactivity for audience

Bursaries

Member bursaries 
The British Pharmacological Society makes available bursary support for members. To be eligible for an award, applicants are generally expected to have been a member of the Society for at least one year, and they must have submitted an abstract that has been accepted for poster and/or oral presentation at the meeting. Bursaries are normally restricted to a maximum of 75% of the aggregate cost of accommodation and travel for students, and 50% for non-students. The maximum award is £750. Food and beverage costs and travel incidentals will not be reimbursed. Costs will be based on the Society’s assessment of the most economical mode of travel and a reasonable standard of accommodation.
