Practical Biology

The British Pharmacological Society has contributed classroom practical protocols to the Nuffield Foundation and Society of Biology Practical Biology website. The site hosts a collection of experiments that demonstrate biological concepts and processes and are placed in real-life contexts.

Practicals with pharmacological content include:

Biology in the Real World

As a member of the Nucleus group of learned societies and similar not-for-profit organisations, the British Pharmacological Society contributes to the Biology in the Real World lecture series at the annual Association for Science Education (ASE) conference.  These talks are designed to provide teachers with an insight into cutting edge biological research which can be taken back into the classroom.

Animal Research

Understanding Animal Research (UAR) is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to achieve broad understanding and acceptance of the humane use of animals in medical, veterinary, scientific and environmental research in the UK. In collaboration with UAR, the British Pharmacological Society has developed an animation explaining the role of animal research in drug discovery (below).

UAR also have other information and resources for use in schools and outreach work, which can be found on their website.
